It is with great sadness that I write to tell you that Anne Jarman died last weekend (Sat 6th April). Her funeral will be this Thursday 18th April, 3pm at Warriston Crematorium.
Anne’s association with Scouting started at the 4th Leith in the early 1970’s with the Tuesday pack. Anne was Assistant Cub leader before taking the reins as Akela in the late 1970’s. Anne continued as Akela for over 25 years before retiring in June 2003, and although Anne had formally retired she still kept tabs on a number of the leaders who’d once been her Cubs, and continued to offer wise counsel and guidance.
Her own group were not the only ones to benefit from Anne’s considerable time and talents. She gave many hours as Assistant District Commissioner for Adult Training, firstly interviewing new leaders into the District, then ensuring that appropriate training was undertaken and implemented.
Anne was a member of the District Friends of Scouting enjoying afternoons and evenings with a number of retired Scouters who still enjoy getting together to reminisce about their Scouting times. Anne will be greatly missed by all her friends in Scouting.
Her family have asked for family flowers only but donations to Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) would be most appropriate.
